Albert Chen
I was born in Toronto, Ontario and raised in Richmond, British Columbia. After completing a Bachelor of Arts in History at the University of British Columbia, I earned my Juris Doctor at Western Law in London, Ontario, before returning home to build my practice in the province I know best.

I began my career at a highly regarded commercial real estate boutique behind some of the largest developments in Canada, then spent several years practising at one of Canada's leading national firms and at a leading global law firm. Those years — spent on complex, high-value files — shaped how I practise today: with the discipline of a large firm and the close, personal attention of a boutique.

Over the course of my career, I have acted on a wide range of real estate and corporate transactions across Canada. I have represented developers, investors, municipalities, public agencies, and institutional clients on deals of every size — from a single home or storefront to portfolios spanning dozens of properties and multiple provinces. Alongside this runs my corporate work: partnerships and joint ventures, and the corporate side of real estate and investment matters for clients ranging from major institutions to the smaller companies and holding structures behind acquisitions and divestitures.

Within real estate, my experience runs the full breadth of the field. On the financing side, I have acted for both lenders and borrowers on everything from modest commercial loans to facilities secured against major multi-phase developments. On the development side, I have guided clients through rezonings and subdivisions, including institutional and public-interest projects. And my leasing work spans the full lifecycle of tenancies, acting for landlords and tenants alike, across shopping centres, office space, industrial space, and small to large retail portfolios.

More than anything, I believe that good legal work begins with listening. Every client and every file is different, and I take the time to understand what matters to you before charting the way forward. Wherever you are, and whatever the matter, I would be glad to help you take the next step with confidence.
